somewhere between rocks and hard places
hardships and hard times we can embrace it
face it with faith, later appreciate it
lift your head we’re gonna make it through these trials and tribulations
mind illumination, opening the lines of divine communication
the evolution of self, proving self
more than what I can do for self, it’s what I can do for someone else
the pain of not knowing, can’t explain what I felt
recollect time spent thinking what my legacy could be
before I realized my whole life is legacy to me
just trying leave my mark here, kryloned X over the frauds I shine on
can’t let these moral cowards have total prowess over what I got my mind on
keep my grind on, accept that I’m weak, trying to become strong
know I could be better, know in due time it’s coming together
some days are cloudy but the Son gonna shine forever

this is for the struggle and the pain, my people hold it tight
redemption coming through the rain, keep up the fight
we’re gonna be alright as long as we keep shining… I keep on rhyming

the burden of Babylon is heavy - a loved one is gone, a child afflicted
addiction, you’re broke, laid off, only one can take that weight off
we suffer but someone suffered for us, it’s not a crown of thorns
just gotta trust in the big picture seen in the proper frame of reference
the perspective of an apprentice, experience the best teacher known
trying to reach a deeper home digging in your ear, these words for all to hear
like speaker phone, not half as popular as some that aint half as nice
I work twice as hard to sell my album at half the price
but like an author at gunpoint I have to write
grab the mic with the passion of Christ at the last sacrifice
Kanye told yall that Jesus walks, I’m thinking if we could listen when he talks
what we could be, how far up the mountain we could see if we just keep on climbing
purified by the fire, I keep on rhyming

why do bad things happen to good people?
sometimes bad people happen to good things, sometimes it’s evil
sometimes it could bring a change of how we feel
it could mean that we can later say we understood things, its real
thought about giving up, but I couldn’t do it, too many need to hear what the truth is
elusive like good role models for the youth is, could stumble over my flaws
or be humbled by the calling, obedient to the cause
no mentor, no million dollar studio, very few that said I could do it no-
body thought rhyme could be revolutional, or that revolution could be musical
that prison could be a temple, or that life could be beautiful
for our light affliction, but for a moment
the reward exceeds what we can see, eternal omen, as long as we keep growing
keep the faith, stronger than angels I’m thankful, gonna overcome this world
